Hughesair (Inflection Point)

Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

The Internet works slower and slower. It may be in part because here at the end of the road our connections are mostly linear, several steps up the chain. The main problem, however, must involve the massive volume of spam coming through the system. Link to Spamhaus

MCI, it seems, knowingly hosts the main threat. They apparently have been unresponsive to pleas that they stop hosting Send-Safe.com, a contract that earns them something like 5 million a year. Who pays the spammer this kind of money?

There could be a solution. Let’s all call our ISP and ask that MCIUUNet be filtered out at the server until MCI eliminates their complicity with the spam game. --- You all stop this, you hear!
