RIAA

The RIAA is sewing college students, Internet2 and has sent threatening letters of intimidation to 140 college presidents asserting that their (monopolistic position) and financial interests are threatened by file sharing, the very raison d'etre of the Internet.

Where are the trial lawyers in all this. The activity of the RIAA and indeed the phone companies is clearly in violation of the Sherman Anti Trust Act if not the constitution. Is the FTC inhibited from acting by lobbying interests? Free enterprise ceases to function when the judiciary slumbers. A point to consider, the special interest cartels and old line monopolies, with enormous economic power, process a mature multi generational culture of shrewdness in combating the justice department and lobbying for yet greater legislative support in their illegal anti trust activity. The prosecutors from the justice department look like teenagers by comparison. Maybe civil action in the form of a class action suit by the high end legal firms will be the only way of checking the unreasonable intimidation, restraint of trade, monopolization and unfair practices of the RIAA and others. All of this impacts the Internet, bandwidth, productivity and thus the economy --- get pissed.
