Muslims may have a point over the irony of the Pope’s remarks given the history of the Inquisition and other vices, but they have no right to outrage until they take a stand against murder and rape and excommunicate the offenders from their religion. Are Muslims silent because they secretly rout for the militants, or do they fear for their lives if they speak out? I do not know which; in some cases, it may be either or both. I rather imagine they fear for their lives, however.
Freedom is not free! It requires a stiff price in sacrifice and self-discipline. I suspect that many of the so-called outraged Muslims are living in our free society, hitching a free ride. Many are emigrants fleeing from a violent society. They did not stay to fight for their freedom in their own country, but rather take advantage of ours to escape. Some are multiple generational with even less of an excuse. Some live in ghettos because they do not make the sacrifice or exercise the self-discipline to find work or adjust to their new culture. It is their duty to adapt, not ours to kiss their you know what.
Citizenship does not come cheep either. We die for our freedom and our citizenship and pay the price willingly. Here, Mexican emigrants join the Marines in order to earn their citizenship. Maybe western nations that offer sanctuary to the Muslims on the lam should require them to earn the right by working for western intelligence as interpreters or agents. They too need the opportunity to earn their own right to citizenship and the sanctuary they receive. Are they cowards? Maybe not, but they should be given the right to prove it and not be coddled as a thankless swarm. So, the Pope may be on another planet but, you do not have the right to question his free speech.
If I were a Muslim living in America, I would not take my status for granted. If I spoke Farce, Arabic or whatever, I would find a way to do my part. If there is not an Islamic movement to rid yourselves of these barbarians, then I would apply for a job as agent or interpreter right now. The CIA has a full page add in the Scientific American asking for your help. If it is too dangerous to speak up in your Mosque, make a difference as part of the team that may be the principal instrument for preserving your peaceful life as a Muslim.
