Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

Survival

It is time to recognize that terrorism and global conflict are no longer our greatest risk long term or even mid term risk.

1  Global environmental degradation will not be controlled
2. Population growth will continue up the parabolic curve

We had better quit bickering in Washington and get imegration under control. We enjoy great open space and natural resources that will soon force greater motivation for refugees and others to imegrate, legal or not. Over crowding and exhaustion of resources will soon force mass migrations.

The most conservative strategy we can follow is the preservation of assets, our natural resources, both    human and environmental.

We need a strategy to ensure the sustainability of our own resources and a limitation to our population growth. We do the later naturally other than for illegal imegrents seeking citizenship for their unborn children. Closing the gate on mass migration, refuges and illegal imegration cannot continue to be viewed as cruelty but as survival. Intriguingly, Russia enjoys the same massive open space from which it could absorb massive migrations probably from China.

Preservation of our God given space and resources seems the most conservative strategy for us to peruse, and at the same time the most forward thinking liberal concept for us to realize. It comes with internal economic growth egality and higher education for all.

Globalization is dead. Conventional wisdoms has just not gotten there yet. Filling our high paying jobs with foreign educated talent while exporting more mundane jobs is neither conservative or liberal, it is just plain stupid. The flow of US wealth abroad in exchange for cheaper imported goods is dumber yet.

The flow of foreign surpluses resulting from our trade deficit back into the hands of the US banking class has served only to create a class society as ruthless as the fuel ism of the past. The solution does not require a revolution, but it does takr thinking, education and cooperation.
