Hughesair (Inflection Point)

Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

Winter Art

Maybe it is the prejudice of an Alaskan flier but Alaska art seems more vital and energetic than other offerings. This opinion results from the post card received in the mail probably because of CAP membership. The watercolor painting shows a DHC-2 with Civil Air Patrol colors over a glacier stream with Denali in the background and a typical winter skylight. If Jacquie gives permission, there will be a thumbnail posted on this blog. The painting in question is not on the web-site. Her URL leads to a collection of planes, boats and nature water colors worth the look. Alaska art captures a sense of adventure, action, color and a deep spirit not often seen down below.
