Hughesair (Inflection Point)

Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

Market Liquidity

As of 5/3, the day's tax revenue collected from individuals and businesses, thus reflecting their earnings and available funds, leaped 5.06 billion ahead of last year, same day. The month to date revenue grew 10.37 billion year over, and the year to date revenue exceeded that of last year by 118 billion. These numbers correlate closely with the inflow of capital into the equities market. One might, as a result, be optimistic about the prospects for the market's advance over the next week. The only caveat surfaces from the observation of significant portions of the influx of capital going towards investment in global or foreign companies and an increased investment in gold.
