Globalization

Ask anyone. Globalization brings the world together; it brings prosperity to under developed countries; it ends starvation; it brings prosperity to the US and our trading partners. Huh?

Political correctness wins out every time, and the winners are the wealthy few who profit from cheap foreign labor, foreign wars and a large trade deficit. The disasters in Bangladesh come off looking worse than colonialism. At least in the later stages of colonialism there was an effort to protect and nurture the people and bring a sense of law and order. The practice of allowing our businesses to move production to regions with cheap labor does little for the people involved, creates unemployment here and increases the trade deficit. The only benefit accrues to those who resort to this form of exploitation.

It seems our style of globalization has merely stirred up a hornet’s nest. We might want to rethink the policy of mixing cultures. We have too many wars; that is certain. How few wars are acceptable? Isolation and tariff are bad words in this plutocracy, not because they would be bad for us, but because they would result in less enrichment of the one percent -- and their minions in the legislation and in the mega news monopolies. Investigative reporters might take a step back and look at the present mess in historic context. --- Read Plato.
