Hughesair (Inflection Point)

Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from experience than from research and more from science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. The Floatplane book is out there. I am currently working on Hippocrates a History of Medicine and Globalism. Enjoy!

MacArthur Quotes

MSM pays little or no attention to the South Pacific and the South China Sea. News comes from Australia, India and expatriate Chinese news sources and a few sword rattling sites. Hard to tell what’s real anymore, but words from a long forgotten general ring true. Russia too needs peace with Japan, India and the US as a hedge against CCP expansionistic goals.

“The history of failure in war can almost be summed up in two words: too late.”

Our threat is from the insidious forces working from within which have already so drastically altered the character of our free institutions- those institutions we proudly called the American way of life.”

“There are some who, for varying reasons, would appease Red China. They are blind to history's clear lesson, for history teaches with unmistakable emphasis that appeasement but begets new and bloodier war. It points to no single instance where this end has justified that means, where appeasement has led to more than a sham peace. Like blackmail, it lays the basis for new and successively greater demands until, as in blackmail, violence becomes the only other alternative.”

Douglas MacArthur
