Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

Cheney's second hunting accident?

Once again the President's designation as Commander and Chief, delegated to other civilians and DOD, may have lead to some kind of a breach within the Administration. No US news, but read this Syrian view of what may have been an Israeli attack on a North Korean package in Syria.

“It appears that the Israeli planes were on a reconnaissance mission when they got caught by Syrian defenses and were forced to drop their bombs and extra fuel tanks,” said a Western diplomat in Syria’s capital Damascus. He declined to be named.

Did, as suggested, elements in the administration go around Bush and Rice to engage in a risky military action? Call it the fog of war, justifiable intervention or is it a divide in the administration? Can Pres. Bush control the Neocons?

Maybe it is better to fight an asymmetrical guerilla war by even more covert strategies and by engaging a willing proxy. It would be interesting to ask David Petraeus these questions tomorrow.
