Hughesair (Inflection Point)

Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

Sales

The cover of this Information Week magazine says it all. Our economy falters not just from banking excesses, exporting jobs, importing everything else, but also from a loss of customer service. We now have robotic telephone solutions, no telephone contact for products without indtructions, no support and most important a loss of sales people.

Historically sales were the high paying jobs because in reality the customer was the ultimate judge of your success of failior. The US was once unique in the world for our customer service. Maybe the depression will bring back selling skills. If you need a job, try sales. In sales you make your own way, create your own market.
