Hughesair (Inflection Point)

Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

I may have a naive, amateure economist, view of this graph, but what it says to me is the liquid capital of the middle class has drained out the bottom of the bucket. Free trade helps the economy until the US consumer runs out of M1. This may explain why tariff protection helped prior to WWII but not since. The hidden cost of human capital not withstanding.
