Hughesair (Inflection Point)

Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

The Elephant

The elephant in the room in this political debate is over population It accounts for immigration, global warming and the economy. It will soon lead to starvation and massive species extinctions.

We have an unacknowledged failior of Globalization, which also accentuates over population. Having destroyed our economy, Globalization breeds the same resentment as Colonialism and there are parallels. A little diversity is fine, but cultures don't want to mix. A visit is fine but don't homogenize us, don't try and change us, we will fight first. No one says it louder than the cultures we mistakenly try to change.
