Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

Arctic Thriller

At a meeting yesterday, I heard the proposal for an intreging plot. This Alaskan tale should be right up there with other oceanographic and medical mysteries.

Joyce Baker Port, an Alaskan author and part of our writer's group, outlined a thriller that places US Natives against the establishment, threatening outright cival war. It promisses to be a mystery that takes us up onto the North Slope and into the native culture like few other books can do. Joyce lived and taught among the natives, her stories are vivid with color and true.
