Hughesair (Inflection Point)

Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

TB

News feature: Trials and tribulations : Article : Nature Medicine

More than you wanted to know about Tuberculosis, this series of short reports published in Nature Medicine is open to the public and quite readable. Be prepared for a shock, however, it is a grim picture and points up the foolishness of Daddy Warbucks economics where serious disease is concerned.

With privatization of pharmacological research, there is little incentive to find a cure to a problem that afflicts primarily the poor or to find anything more than expensive palliation for the cancer that afflicts the rich --- hello!
