Hughesair (Inflection Point)

Retired physician and air taxi operator, science writer and part time assistant professor, these editorials cover a wide range of topics. Mostly non political, mostly true, I write more from a lifetime of experience and from research, more science than convention. Subjects cover medicine, Alaska aviation, economics, technology and an occasional book review. Globalization or Democracy documents the historical roots of Oligarchy, the road to colonialism and tyranny

Try this for a new perspective on the future. Do you see some strategic relevance? A warmer Arctic is upon us. I'm reading once again V. Stephenson's "Friendly Arctic," first edition, a collectors piece. It reflects a life and a means of travel on the ice pack that even the Eskimos have forgotten and in some cases never knew. What is it they say, "Look north to the future." Well, it's a frontier anyway.
